What would happen if everyone aged 19 and over disappeared?
Devised by over 60 students from AwA “19” was staged in 2023 and featured a cast of 58 young people from 5-18yrs. Over 600 people saw one of the five performances held at the Dancenorth Theatre. Feedback was stellar!
“A wonderful storyline, and just enough humour to keep it a bit light. Accolades to the cast and Arminelle for their wonderful writing and imagination to produce this first rate play, for a diverse age group of young actors in the making. We’ll done.”
“This was a freshly innovative piece that ultimately contained a message of hope for the future.”
REVIEW by Trevor Keeling, The Townsville Bulletin.
“I am so impressed, excited and proud that AwA exists in Townsville. It was very clear that every cast member loved having the opportunity to write and perform in their own show. It was also excellent to see how Arminelle has guided these young people - their confidence and ability is a fantastic advertisement for her ability as a teacher and collaborator.”
“Wonderful performance. Amazed at the quality of the production. The underlying themes made for interesting conversations. Great balance of humour and genuinely touching moments. Many powerful moments.”
“I truly cannot express my gratitude nor love to the cast, and Arminelle enough. “19” was my first real show and it is without a doubt one of the best experiences of my life so far. My love for theatre and the art of acting has only tripled since meeting Arminelle and being apart of this astounding, diverse cast of young people. Acting has always been my passion and because of Arminelle, I know it is what I will pursue; and for that my gratitude will know no bounds.”

“I found it be an emotionally stirring performance, which surprised me. I may have even shed a tear or two. I found the story to be very powerful. Fantastic show, story and cast. A huge congratulations to the actors for putting together such a great show.”
