Established in 2018, AwA has worked with many young people over the years. Some of them have now gone onto to further study and work in the arts industry.

When I first joined ‘Acting With Arminelle’ I was nervous and unsure if I would like it, that one class then turned into 4 years. It’s safe to say AWA is something I will forever look back on with fond memories. Arminelle does an amazing job at creating a safe space where everyone is encouraged to be themselves. Her classes are welcoming and supportive, as well as challenging and incredibly fun. She always encouraged me to try new things and get out of my comfort zone. I have learnt so much from her over the years, and will value those skills. AWA has fostered my passions for acting and I recommend everyone with a passion of their own, whether it’s something you want to pursue as a career, or if it’s something you just love, to join AWA. Now, I am further continuing my acting training through the Bridge Project in 2024, something I never would of thought was achievable if it weren’t for the things I learnt at AWA.

AWA has fostered my passion for acting, challenging me to always improve and try my best. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging, creating a safe space to experiment and play without fear of judgement. After 3 incredible years with AWA and further training through The Bridge Project in 2023, I plan for a career as an actor.

I absolutely adored my time at AwA and every aspect of it, from doing scene work to devising new pieces to just having tons and tons of fun! I felt so lucky to be able to have that community of like minded people that I got to see every single week! And as of what's ahead for me, I am so fortunate to now be involved in TheatreiNQ's The Bridge Project for a second year to further my skills!

AWA was not only super fun but also crucial in developing my skills and confidence in acting. Arminelle's fun and engaging teaching style made every week so different and interesting, and I learned so much about acting and the theatre industry from her. It was so exciting being part of a community of like-minded people that share a passion for theatre, and super helpful in getting me connected into the theatre community in Townsville. This year I am studying a Bachelor of Arts (Western Civilisation) at ACU in Sydney and am planning to get involved in as much theatre as I can on the side!

I have a strong passion for the arts because of AwA, the platform that gave me training and ardor for the arts. AwA was one of the best experiences of my life. With endless fun and some hard work, I learned so much from Arminelle, who encouraged me in a safe space of great young people like myself. Now, I am continuing acting by starting TheatreiNQ's course The Bridge Project in 2023, backed up by knowledge and confidence from AwA.

After my first class of AwA, I couldn’t get enough of it - I looked forward to each class every Friday afternoon after school. The education and skills Arminelle provides really opened my eyes and made me feel so much more confident with breaking out of my comfort zone and being aware of my body as an actor. Consequently, I was accepted into The Bridge Project at TheatreiNQ, and this year I am in Sessions, furthering my techniques and knowledge as an actor.

‘Acting With Arminelle’ is an incredible youth actor training program which I participated in from 2018-2021. I have always admired Arminelle’s ability to facilitate classes to each individuals need whilst still maintaining a sense of unity and ensemble. I highly value the skills and lessons Arminelle taught me throughout my time at ‘AWA’ and continue to utilise and reflect on them as I further my training at TheatreiNQ’s ‘The Bridge Project’. I highly recommend ‘AWA’ for any student looking at a career in Acting and the Arts.
